Dove Crispy Rice Bar Review (China)

Today's review is thanks to a reader from China who sent me a snacks package last year. I must sincerely apologize to her for taking so long to review it; I've had so many snacks in the archives and so little time it somehow ended up being neglected.

She sent me a fantastic snacks package but the one which stood out most to me was this Dove Crispy bar. Dove is another name for the famous Galaxy brand that we get here in the UK - it seems that elsewhere in the world (including the US) it's called Dove, but only here in the UK it's called Galaxy for some odd reason!

Unfortunately this bar suffered heat damage during postage and so had a rather "bloomed" and dusty appearance, but luckily it still tasted okay!


It tasted slightly different to the Galaxy chocolate we get here in the UK - it was a little richer and less milky. The crispy rice pieces were a nice addition and gave the chocolate a welcome crunch, although there weren't enough of them to make it worthwhile. It reminded me a little of Nestlé Crunch bars but with less crisped rice.

Overall, this is an interesting bar and it would be a nice addition to the UK Galaxy range, but only if it had more crisped rice added!

Cadbury Dream Ice Creams - back for Summer! (UK)

If you've sorely missed Cadbury Dream White Chocolate since it was withdrawn from UK shelves many years ago, fear not, it's going to be back for Summer, albeit in a colder form - yes, ice cream! Dream Ice Creams have been in shops sporadically for several years now (including a Strawberry variety that was exclusive to Farmfoods) but finally they're getting an official release just for the Summer, yay! It will be sold in major supermarkets in packs of three, and impulse sticks will cost £1.80 from convenience stores. Maybe Cadbury are testing the waters to see how popular they are...who knows, maybe the proper Cadbury Dream bar may be resurrected if sales are good! You can already find Cadbury Dream ice creams in Fultons Foods , a Northern based frozen food store if you're lucky enough to live near one (there's a store finder in the link above). Asda Tinned Banana Blossom Review

Recently, I spotted a totally new vegetable/fruit (not sure which it actually is!) in Asda called Banana Blossom in a tin. It was next to the tins of Jackfruit which is a well known vegan meat alternative. I assumed it was a similar thing so happily bought some to try - it’s £1.50 a tin. The image on the wrapper looked innocent enough - battered fish pieces, only vegan! Surely this stuff must be good? Turns out that packaging was very misleading because nothing could prepare me for the horror that was lurking inside...when I opened the tin it was like opening something from a horror film, discovering the mouldy body of an ancient alien creature or other such evil. It looked hideous!! “Surely this is not meant for human consumption?!”, I thought. Heck it’s not even suitable for bird consumption....I think flies would even turn their nose up at this thing, which looked like rotten infested seaweed.
